RUTH MARIE SCIOTTO, Knightsville, IN

Ruth Marie Sciotto, 84, passed away surrounded by family on November 10, 2023. Ruth was born to the late Ben and Nettie (Haltom) Wallace on October 10, 1939 in Knightsville.

Ruth graduated from Van Buren High School in 1957. After graduation, she married the love of her life, Norman “Bill” Sciotto on August 15, 1959. Volunteering was a very important part of Ruth’s life. In the early 1960’s, Ruth and her sister Norma started the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry. Ruth and Norma poured their heart and souls into it. They loved being able to help Clay County families. Ruth was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, and extracurricular activities. Ruth was a long-time member of Peniel United Methodist Church where she held many titles throughout the years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, James Wallace, Donald Wallace, Lester Wallace, William Wallace, Norma Brown, and infant sister Julia Wallace.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Bill Sciotto, children, Anthony “Tony” Sciotto (Camie) and Amy Mitchel (Tom), grandchildren, Jeramie Mitchel (Selina), Brandon Sciotto (Tiffany), Christin Nicosin (Austin), Kelsy Wells (Bill), Austin Sciotto, Halie Brown (Cody), Derik Mitchel (Destiny), 12 great grandchildren, and one sister, Janet Wallace, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15th from 4-8 P.M. at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, November 16th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
