Elks Hoop Shoot winners crowned

Over the weekend, Brazil Elks Lodge 762, which is one of 1,800 Elks lodges across the United States, hosted its 52nd annual Elks Hoop Shoot competition at North Clay Middle School.

There, kids aged 8-13 had the opportunity to shoot 25 free throws with the winner being crowned based on the highest number of makes.

Listed below are the winners of the 2023-24 local Hoops Shoot competition:

8-9 Girls - London Hall

8-9 Boys - Oliver Thompson

10-11 Girls - Avery Hoskins

10-11 Boys - Eli Phillips

12-13 Girls - Loren Horn

12-13 Boys - Keegan Altepeter

The winners from the Brazil Elks Hoop Shoot competition will now advance to the West Central District Hoop Shoot, which will be held at Greencastle's McAnally Center on Jan. 13, 2024. There, they will compete against the winners from seven other Lodge Hoop Shoot contests with the chance to advance onto the state and regional stages before culminating in the National Finals in Chicago on April 20, 2024.
