SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - NHS EMMA WHITMAN

Monday, December 18, 2023

Emma Whitman is a senior at Northview. She is involved in Big Brother Big Sister, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), the Wabash Valley Youth Grant Committee, and National Honors Society. Emma has also played soccer for the past four years of high school.

Outside of school and sports, Emma enjoys spending time with her friends and family and volunteering at the YMCA.

“I volunteer every year at the soccer camp and help the little kids.”

Emma also works at the First Christian Church Daycare in her free time. She describes her love of helping children and being around them.

“I love working with the children, and I love knowing that I can impact their day... and always leave them with a smile on their face.”

Whitman is not involved in Northview's ICE or internship program, but she is taking the CNA course that Northview offers. As a part of that class, Emma will visit local nursing homes and eventually take a test to obtain her CNA (certified nurse assistant) license.

In the future, Emma plans to go to college and major in nursing. After she graduates, Whitman wants to get a job close to home as a nurse in the NICU or pediatrics sector.

“I have always loved babies and children, and I want to be able to know each day that I helped another child.”

Whitman notes that her favorite part of high school has been meeting new people and creating memories together through the various social events at Northview.

“I love attending all the ball games and cheering on teams in the students section.”

Emma describes how her parents are the largest role models in her life.

“Both of them work really hard and show me that you have to work hard for the things you want in life. They both help me a lot, and I look up to them.”
