EDWARD W. MODESITT, Brazil, IN

Edward W. Modesitt, 85, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, on January 31, 2024, at his home.

Ed was born on January 14, 1939, in Spencer, Indiana, the son of William and Eunice (Crosley) Modesitt. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1957. He worked at Arketex in Brazil and CBS Records, and retired from AET (Hercules) as a machinist.

He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, spending time at the family cabin, and was talented with building projects in his garage over the years. He was actively involved with the Clay County Historical Society, and was a board member. He and Fredia enjoyed their many trips to Branson, Missouri, and had many wonderful memories.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Fredia Modesitt, Infant daughter Lana K. Modesitt; parents: William and Eunice Modesitt; brother John Modesitt; and a sister Sue (Modesitt) Withers.

Ed is survived by his two sons: Paul Modesitt and wife Debbie of Brazil, Indiana and Ronald “Andy” Modesitt and wife Teresa of New Richmond, Indiana; brother Don Modesitt and wife Mary of Brazil; sister-in-law Mary Jane Alsip, of Brazil; grandchildren: Kelsey Tincher (Cameron), of Fillmore; Taylor Thomas (Michael) of Crawfordsville, and Garrett Modesitt (Danielle) of Alabama; he was “Pops” to his great-grandchildren: Addison and Easton Tincher and Benjamin Thomas as well as several extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clay County Historical Society 100 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834.

Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow at 1:00 PM with Brother Jim Porter officiating. Burial will be held at Calcutta Cemetery.
