Heightened Fire Danger for West Central Indiana

Monday, February 26, 2024

West Central Indiana is currently under a heightened fire danger notice.

According to the National Weather Service, an abnormally warm airmass in combination with dry lower layers will lead to Relative Humidity levels below 25 percent this afternoon. This, along with sustained winds between 12-17 MPH, will create favorable conditions for the rapid-fire growth.

Outdoor burning is discouraged as burning embers can blow around and easily catch grass on fire. Homeowners will be responsible for any fire set.
