JANELLA FAYTHE NICOSON, Clay County, IN

Janelle Faythe Nicoson, 76, passed away February 26, 2024. Janelle was born to the late Sidney “Ralph” and Mildred June (Brammer) Nicoson in Brazil on June 1, 1947.

Janelle grew up on a farm in southern Clay County with three brothers. She attended Ashboro Elementary, Clay City Jr. and Sr. High School, Hillsboro High School in Tampa, Florida and Berkley High School in Berkley, Michigan where she graduated from. Janelle had an honorable discharge from the United States Women’s Marine Corp. and the Indiana National Guard. She worked for P.R. Mallory, Peabody Co., and Hercules Corp. Janelle was a member of the United Mineworkers of America and United Autoworkers of America. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star in Brazil. She enjoyed basketball, football, baseball, boxing, and NASCAR racing. She also liked swimming, golf, and playing card games. She loved and enjoyed playing with her son and grandchildren, and their friends as they grew up. Later in life when her family grew, she loved spending time with her great grandchildren. Janelle was loved for one of her “talks” and always lending a listening ear.

Janelle also had a namesake, Janelle Garrison.

Janelle is preceded in death by her grandsons, Mitchell Price, and Michael Nicoson, a nephew, Jason Nicoson, and a niece Tara Nicoson.

Janelle is survived by her son, Timothy M. Nicoson. Laura Waugh, the daughter that she never had, her grandchildren, Nicole Riggen (Dwight), Derek Nicoson (Debrenne), and Erica Pittsford, great grandchildren, Wyatt, Abram, Brogyn, Calin, and Kymber Ann, brothers, Prentice J. Nicoson (Mary), Jeffrey R. Nicoson (Sandy), and John H. Nicoson. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Joel, Jared, Scott, Candice, and Greg.

Private graveside services will be held at Clearview Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held June 1st at Forest Park with more details to come in the future.
