Shirley Ann Pell, 93, of Harmony passed away March 14, 2024, with her dear family by her side. She was born November 13, 1930, in Harmony, the daughter of Albert and Hila Hann Girton. She graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1948.

Shirley married her high school sweetheart, James Pell, on June 30, 1951. They celebrated 60 years together prior to his passing on October 13, 2011. They enjoyed the family home on Fort Myers Beach where they spent many days fishing and evenings on the front porch playing Spinners. She was known to outfish everyone on the Playmate. She developed a love for the game of basketball and was an Indiana Pacers fan. There were also many memories made at the lake house on Raccoon Lake with generations of family.

She cherished her daily coffee with her son, many shopping days with her daughters, and her famous tea parties with her grandkids and great grandkids. The title of “Mam” was an important name that she loved and was used by family and friends alike. Mam loved her family unconditionally and had a giving heart. She was very proud of the family she and Jim created together.

Shirley was a member of the Harmony Community Church and later attended the Harmony Methodist Church. She was one of the last original members of the Delta Theta Tau.

Survivors include her children, Dan and Nancy Pell, Judy and Fritz Maurer, and Jane and Bob Osborn; grandchildren, Elisha London (Rob), Mitch Maurer (Madason), Jim Pell (Ashley), Ann Harder (Casey), Marc Maurer (Susan), Nikki LeMay (Matt), Michael Maurer (Colleen) and William Osborn (Colleen); great-grandchildren, Ella London, Jackson London, Lukas LeMay, Samuel Maurer, Haddie Osborn, Millie Maurer, Nolan LeMay, Hudson Maurer, Emersyn Osborn, Landry Harder, Houston Maurer, Camryn Harder and anxiously awaiting the arrival of Baby Maurer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, James and Helen Girton and her husband James Pell.

Services will be held Monday, March 18 at 2:00 PM at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Mark Mullinix and Brooke Reinoehl officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. The visitation will be on Monday from 11:00-2:00.
