SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - CCHS GRACIE SCHROER

Wednesday, April 10, 2024

Gracie Schroer is a senior at Clay City High School. She is involved in SADD and National Honors Society. She was previously a member of the girls golf and track and field teams but stopped this year to focus on college classes. Gracie also works part-time at Kroger as an online grocery clerk.

Schroer has been a dancer for the past fifteen years, and she is also involved with her church.

For the first semester of her senior year, Gracie was given the unique opportunity to intern with the Vigo County Sheriff's Office and the Indiana State University High-Tech Crime Unit. She did this by participating in Clay City's internship program.

“I chose those places because I want to go into law enforcement/federal work.”

Schroer explains that her internship has taught her about Indiana State as well as the basics of responsibility, time management, and punctuality.

“It helped prepare me for my future career by teaching me those specific basics and showing me behind the scenes of crime that the average person doesn't witness.”

In the future, Gracie plans to attend Indiana State University and double major in Cybersecurity and Intelligence Analysis.

“My dream is to pursue a job in either the Secret Service, FBI, or CIA.”

Schroer describes the process that led her to choose to pursue this kind of career.

“I never knew what I specifically wanted to do, but I knew it had to be something to do with law. I came across the criminal side of cybersecurity and immediately was interested.”

Gracie explains that one of her proudest accomplishments is the progress that she has made in her dance career.

“Something I am proud of about myself is that I have danced for 15 years and learned so much from it.”

Schroer states that her favorite part of high school has been the social side and the relationships she's built in the past four years.

“My favorite part of high school has been the friendships I have made and how I've gotten so close with my classmates.”

Gracie doesn't have a specific favorite memory from high school, but she has enjoyed all the time she has gotten to spend with her friends.

“We love hanging out together [at] any given time and [are] constantly making new friends along the way.”

At some point in her life, Gracie would love to learn how to surf.
