IHSAA sets baseball, softball sectional tournaments

On Sunday night, high school baseball and softball teams around the state of Indiana huddled up around their respective televisions or smart phones to watch the IHSAA Selection Show, waiting to see who they woud be playing in the opening round of their respective sectional tournament and identifying the pathway they’ll need to take to be crowned champions. Listed below are the matchups for Clay City and Northview:

Clay City baseball

Clay City baseball’s team will open the Class A Shakamak Sectional against Bloomfield, which represents a matchup of last year’s sectional semifinal. The two teams squared off on Thursday with the Cardinals scoring four runs in the seventh inning to win by a score of 4-1.

Northview baseball

Northview’s baseball team will open the Class 3A Edgewood Sectional against West Vigo, which also represents a matchup of last year’s sectional semifinal. The two teams have not played each other yet, but with their regular season matchup set for May 14, the Knights and Vikings will see each other twice in a two-week period.

Clay City softball

Clay City’s softball team will open the Class A White River Valley Sectional against Dugger. The two teams played in the second game of the season in late March with the Eels winning by a score of 20-6 in five innings.

Northview softball

Northview’s softball team will open the Class 3A Owen Valley Sectional against Edgewood. The two teams will play each other for the first time this season on Wednesday in Brazil.
