On Wednesday morning, the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association announced the 34 recipients of the prestigious Marion Crawley Award Scholarship.

Among those to earn the honor included Northview’s Joshua Fowler.

Criteria for the Crawley Scholarship includes achievement in basketball, achievement in academics, participation in extracurricular activities and to one’s school and community.

The senior forward who averaged 5.8 points per game on 54 percent shooting from the field, 2.3 rebounds per game, 1.0 assists per game, 0.8 steals per game and 0.7 blocks per game while consistently drawing the assignment of guarding the opposition’s best player on a nightly basis checked each of the boxes with flying colors.

Northview boys basketball head coach Shawn Nevill was proud to learn of Fowler becoming a recipient of the Crawley Scholarship, an honor that goes to approximately 1.4 percent of IBCA members.

“Josh is everything you want in a senior leader. He is accountable, great in the classroom, and keeps the other players in line,” said Nevill of Fowler. “I couldn't be prouder that he was selected as one of only 34 to receive this scholarship. He is the epitome of a student-athlete.”
