Letter to the Editor

Watch program beneficial to town

Sunday, November 6, 2011

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to you to let you know about our new Posey Township Neighborhood Watch group that we have organized.

This time of year begins a higher crime rate because of the holiday season.

Our group is being trained by Clay County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Rob Gambill on things to watch for along with ways to protect your family, home and property with more information to come on identity theft, drugs, in the event of a crisis and the list goes on and on.

I personally have learned so much from these meetings that now I know how to change a few little things that are tempting and attractive to a burglar. As I look around the Posey Township area, I see many homes that are doing the exact same things that I was doing, not realizing the danger.

Did you know it only takes 60 seconds for someone to break into your home? Just think, in the matter of only one minute, a life changing experience could happen, resulting in the loss of valuable property and more importantly, your family's safety.

I would like to encourage all of the Posey Township residents to attend our meetings.

The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m., at the Staunton Community Center.

Together, we can learn. Together, we can protect our families, homes and community.

Thanks for listening,

Cindy Grove,

Chairman,

Posey Township Neighborhood Watch
