TANF: State Sen. Jon Ford (R-Terre Haute) made the following statement today regarding the passage of Senate Enrolled Act 265
Statement from State Sen. Jon Ford
State Sen. Jon Ford (R-Terre Haute) made the following statement today regarding the passage of Senate Enrolled Act 265:
STATEHOUSE (April 10, 2023) — "Increasing the income eligibility requirements for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program will help thousands of Hoosier families in need.
"I believe TANF is a hand-up, not a handout, as it provides job training, child care, and transportation along with financial assistance to families in need.
"Under this bill, a pregnant woman would be eligible for TANF benefits if she meets income requirements.
"I am pleased to see SEA 265 pass the General Assembly and head to the governor's desk for his consideration."
